Coaches managers and helpers meeting

7 pm Tuesday 7 September, Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL.

Girls Cricket

This year SHCC will be participating in developing girls cricket in the area and helping ensure there is a pathway for girls in the game.

The Club will be encouraging girls to start playing the game and there are many options available for getting started.

Girls participate in the In2Cricket programme (5 to 8 year olds), play with boys in the Under 9 or Under 10 competitions, go through the CricHit programme (8 to 11 year olds) or play in the SHCC U14 girls’ team that plays in the Sydney Rivers Girls Cricket Association (10 to 14 year olds).

Player safety and confidence is the key so to decide which is best for your daughter call our girls cricket coordinator, Ross Martin (0419 693 815).

The U14s girls’ team plays on a Saturday afternoon from 2 until 4.30pm. They use normal cricket equipment and play 20 overs a side cricket. Every player gets to bat, bowl and field in the afternoon. Some girls even play Saturday morning with the boys and then again Saturday afternoon.

If you or your daughter are not sure about if they will enjoy cricket then we have found the best thing to do is try to get a friend to also come along.  So come on girls, have a go!
